For the third time ever the Vail Valley is proudly hosting the 2015 FIS Alpine World Championships. Over 700 of the world’s best skiers from more than 70 countries are competing in the Vail Valley as you are reading this. Just because you have missed the first week of events and festivities doesn’t mean you won’t be able to enjoy the second week. Events take place everyday during this two week span followed by nightly concerts. The best part about the FIS Championships is it is a completely free event to attend.  If you’re thinking about coming or just want a simple recap, the lowdown on FIS: event recap is explained below.

Opening ceremonies took place on Tuesday, February 2. The Vail Valley officially welcomed the world to Beaver Creek and Vail. Ski fans enjoyed a show that consisted of 3 sections: dream it, live it, and share it. These inspirational sayings are the themes for these two weeks of events.

Events have been going on daily at Beaver Creek and are continuing at full force. February 3rd and 4th the men’s and women’s Super G took place. The 5th, 6th, and 7th saw the men’s and women’s Downhill Bib Presentations and the actual downhill events. The last couple days the men’s and women’s Alpine Combined took place. One of the most excited event that has occurred is the Nations Team Event. There has also been a small break in the action before the men’s and women’s giant slalom take place the 12th, 13th, and 14th.
